Let's Get Real
Real food. A taboo subject I know. As humans we don’t like being told that we shouldn’t or can’t have something. It makes us want it even more.
But if we really understood our bodies, it’s nutrient needs, how it utilises what we put into it, what we could get out of it, I think we would be much more calculated in our decisions when it came to food.
The fact is we don’t need that bar of chocolate, alcohol doesn’t make time with friends more enjoyable, your children won’t look back in 20 years and remember how much you loved them because of a few ice-cream dates and don’t even get me started on that weekly “cheat” meal at everyone’s favourite Clown restaurant.
The importance we place on these moments including “fun” food is only inhibiting our ability to enjoy these moments even more. We are so focused on the food aspect, we fail to see and feel the physical aspect, the emotional connections we can create when we remove the focus from food to feeling.
Because the healthier you are, the more optimally you body functions, and the better you feel about yourself both inside and out will ensure every moment spent living your best life is in fact you living your best life.
Shoot some hoops with the kids, go ice skating with your friends, have a dinner party with home made deconstructed veggie burgers and get everyone involved in the cooking process.
Your body, your children and your future self with thank you for it.
